What made you decide to apply for a job at Smunch?
The incredible office location of course, haha! I had previously worked for 2 large-sized companies with over 70,000 employees each. Smunch seemed very different from that, no fuss or red tape and with each interview stage I got more excited to join & work with the team.
Tell us the story about your start at the company. What were the first weeks like?
There was a lot of fast-paced learning, information gathering and of course, delicious breakfasts! I enjoyed the opportunity to go around with a Smunch-Driver in particular.
Sukanya especially likes the great breakfasts in the office!
Anything you miss about your previous job(s)?
I cannot say I miss anything in particular as each job and team comes with its own experiences. So far I can say I have cherished all of them.
Do you feel like your job/position matters and is appreciated?
Yes, there’s always a requirement for data analysis.
Do you feel like you’ve grown since you started working at Smunch?
Yes I have. This is the first time that I’ve worked with such a diverse team with people from all over the world. You can grow a lot personally and professionally in such an environment.
There are people from all over the world at Smunch
What has been your biggest challenge here so far?
Providing good-quality data analysis that you can work with. A lot of data is retrieved on various levels and therefore it is vital to trim out the noise in Business Intelligence. At the same time, maintaining system efficiency has been a challenge.
What about your job makes you want to get up every morning - no matter how cozy your bed is?
There’s something new to learn/solve/improve every day. And the office has incredibly cute dogs to cuddle!
What was the funniest moment you had here? Or do you have an anecdote you’d like to share?
We’re a very multi-lingual space. There are always new and funny words to pick up every time someone speaks in their native language. With some healthy poking-around amongst the colleagues, great moments at work are commonplace.
The many languages in the office always cater for funny moments
How are you experiencing the company culture at Smunch?
The learning curve, laughter and team events form a wonderful culture. Smunch is still a young company, and we’re growing and identifying our MO on the move.
Imagine you could buy one thing for Smunch (no matter the price). What would you go for?
I think a beach hammock which we could maybe install on the terrace. Although, I hope that doesn’t kill afternoon productivity (haha). Imagine the sun’s daze, cold drinks after a wonderful lunch in a hammock. After all, who doesn’t want a good work nap? 😉
What's one thing you wish you knew before you started working here?
ALL Tableau tricks in the book. It’s a fantastic BI software but it can at times test your patience. I’m working on finding some BI cheat-sheets or perhaps creating ones that don’t yet exist.
Sukanya wishes for a hammock on the terrace
How do you picture Smunch’s future? / Where do you think the company is headed?
I do think Smunch has the potential to become very hot among employers by the end of 2019 (in Berlin at least). Looking at our daily ratings gave me inspiration for this ;)
Besides contributing to happy teams and their healthy lunches, what do you enjoy in your free time?
Swimming, Reading, Hiking, taking pictures & drinking all different types of coffee from around the world.
